The 21st Century Wire is an American conspiracy website founded by Patrick Henningsen in 2014. It presents itself as a media outlet with a vocation to ‘educate [and] promote learning about geopolitical and social issues’.
21st Century Wire for example proposed in August 2015 an interview with David Icke [archive], whose career has been centered for nearly thirty years on denouncing a reptilian extraterrestrial global conspiracy.
On 23 September 2016, 21st Century Wire published a piece by Vanessa Beeley claiming that the Syrian Civil Defence (an organization also known as the 'White Helmets' and made up of volunteers operating in rebel-controlled areas to provide relief to victims of the fighting), is actually in the hands of jihadists.
According to the media rating site NewsGuard, 21st Century Wire has repeatedly ‘promoted false claims’ about the Covid-19 pandemic. In May 2020, for example, the site published an interview with member of the the World Doctors Alliance (WDA), Dolores Cahill [archive], a member of and a figure in the Irish Freedom Party (an Irish conservative and sovereignist populist party), in which she claimed that masks are dangerous to health and that social distancing is not necessary.
