YAHYA SINWAR. The architect of the October 7, 2023 massacres in Israel, Hamas leader Sinwar was killed by the Israeli military in a bombed out apartment block in Gaza. Foreign Minister Israel Katz announced the killing by the IDF of "the master murderer, who is responsible for the massacre and atrocities of October 7”. United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III declared the killing was “a great military and moral achievement for Israel and a victory for the entire free world against the evil axis of extreme Islam led by Iran”. “The killing today of the leader of the terrorist group Hamas, by Israeli forces is a major achievement in counterterrorism,” Austin added. “Sinwar's death will not heal the wounds of the October 7th atrocities that he plotted, or the many deaths for which he is responsible, but I hope that it may bring some small measure of justice and solace to the families and the loved ones of the many victims of Sinwar's premeditated cruelty.” Austin detailed how Sinwar was “the architect of the vile terrorist assault on Israel on October 7, 2023, in which 1,200 Israelis were murdered and 251 people were taken hostage”. Hamas terrorists slaughtered civilians from more than 30 countries—including the US. Sinwar and Hamas were responsible for the deaths of many Americans over the years, including the more than 40 Americans slain on October 7th and the murdered American hostages Itay Chen, Gad Haggai, Judy Weinstein Haggai, and Hersh Goldberg Polin.

The extreme Islamist and far right conspiracy sphere including American conspiracist influencer Jackson Hinkle mourned Sinwar’s death, claiming he died as a hero. Far left anti-Israel conspiracy theorist Max Blumenthal also portrayed Sinwar as heroic. However the Hamas terrorist was found on the run, covered in dust and as shown by an Israeli drone, shortly prior to his death with his hand injured, and throwing a stick at the drone. He had been on the run and only moving with a small group of aides and was bearing a UNRWA teacher’s passport belonging to a man reported to have been in Egypt for 9 months. Sinwar was nicknamed “the butcher of Khan Younis” for the town of his birth and his particular penchant for dealing with Gazans suspected of collaborating with the Hebrew state. Before the war, after torturing them, he used to behead “traitors” himself with a butcher's sheet. Described as a psychopath and sadist by many, Sinwar was an evil archvillain worthy of an Ian Fleming novel. In late summer he was said to have personally ordered the murder of hostages held near him in Gaza tunnels. US President Joe Biden said the killing of the militant leader was a “good day for Israel, for the United States and for the world,” according to a White House statement. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called Sinwar “the mastermind behind the deadliest day in Jewish history since the Holocaust” and said the UK “will not mourn his death.” He added: “Today my thoughts are with the families of those victims.” German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said “Sinwar was a brutal murderer and terrorist, who wanted to destroy Israel and its people.” She added Hamas must immediately release all hostages and lay down its weapons, saying “the suffering of the people in Gaza must finally end” (Sources: CNN, October 17, 2024; Franc-Tireur, June 19, 2024; ABC News, October 17, 2024).

DONALD TRUMP. The former president doubled down on his 2020 “rigged election” conspiracy in a Town Hall hosted by the Spanish language broadcaster UniVision. Trump said January 6, 2021 insurrection that he fomented at Washington Capitol, in which 6 people died including a police officer assaulted by rioters was "a day of love". Earlier Trump’s Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance went further, saying flatly that Donald Trump won the 2020 election. Speaking before a crowd in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, he was pressed about his reluctance to acknowledge Trump’s 2020 loss by a reporter, who asked: “What message do you think it sends to independent voters when you do not directly answer the question, did Donald Trump lose in 2020?” “I’ve answered this question directly a million times,” Mr. Vance responded. “No. I think there are serious problems in 2020. So did Donald Trump lose the election? Not by the words that I would use.” In a tumultuous series of appearances, including a discussion at the Economic Club of Chicago, Trump clashed with Bloomberg editor-in-chief John Micklethwait over the January 6 riots, saying they were “peaceful” - to which Micklethwait replied they were peaceful for Venezuela. Trump then ranted against the Wall Street Journal, and the media more generally. He refused to answer whether he had multiple phone calls with Vladimir Putin since he lost the election in 2020, as revealed in the new book by veteran journalist Bob Woodward (Sources: CNN, October 16, 2024; The New York Times, October 16, 2024).

“ENEMY WITHIN”. The former president Trump was condemned for claiming there was an “the enemy within” the United States and pledging to send in the military to punish his domestic political opponents. “ I think the bigger problem is the enemy from within, not even the people that have come in and destroying our country, by the way, totally destroying our country,” said in an interview with Fox News journalist Maria Bartiromo. “The towns, the villages, they’re being inundated. But I don’t think they’re the problem in terms of Election Day. I think the bigger problem are the people from within. We have some very bad people. We have some sick people, radical left lunatics. And I think they’re the – and it should be very easily handled by – if necessary, by National Guard or, if really necessary, by the military, because they can’t let that happen.” Trump also threatened to break up Google because it failed to publish enough good stories about him. “Google has been very bad, they’ve been very irresponsible, and I have a feeling that Google is going to be close to shut down, because I don’t think Congress is going to take it,” he said (Sources: NBC News, October 16, 2024; Yahoo Finance, October 16, 2024).

ELON MUSK. Billionaire Trump barracker Elon Musk promoted debunked conspiracy theories about election fraud Thursday at the first of a series of planned campaign events across Pennsylvania meant to rally support for the former President’s campaign. At a town hall hosted at a high school outside Philadelphia, Musk referred to the false conspiracy theory that Dominion Voting Systems was part of a plot to rig US elections in recent years. “When you have mail-in ballots and no proof of citizenship, it’s almost impossible to prove cheating,” he said, responding to an audience member’s question about election fraud. “Statistically there are some very strange things that happen that are statistically incredibly unlikely. There’s always this question of, say, the Dominion voting machines. It is weird that, I think, they were used in Philadelphia and in Maricopa County [in Arizona] but not in a lot of other places. Doesn’t that seem like a heck of a coincidence?” (Source: NBC News, October 18, 2024).
