HOLOCAUST DENIAL. Far right conspiracist broadcaster Tucker Carlson interviewed a self-proclaimed “historian” who says Winston Churchill not Adolf Hitler was the chief villain of World War II and portrays the Holocaust as “an accident”. Promoting the interview on X, Carlson said the latest project of the “historian” Darryl Cooper “is the most forbidden of all: trying to understand World War Two.” The episode of Carlson’s eponymous online show on the social network X/Twitter earned plaudits from the site’s billionaire owner, Elon Musk, who wrote in a since-deleted post that it was “Very interesting. Worth watching.” In the interview, Cooper, author of a Substack with around 112,000 subscribers, told Carlson that the Nazis were simply in over their heads. Holocaust denial has surged to the center of the US presidential election campaign, with Republican nominee and former president Donald Trump also sharing content from influencers promoting negation of the World War II genocide of more than 6 million Jews by the Nazi regime (Source: The Jerusalem Post, September 5, 2024; Media Matters for America, September 4, 2024).

RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE. The US has charged and sanctioned Russian state media executives and restricted Kremlin-linked broadcasters as it accused Moscow of a widespread campaign to interfere with the presidential election. The justice, state and treasury departments announced coordinated actions to "aggressively counter" the alleged operations. Attorney General Merrick Garland accused state broadcaster RT, formerly Russia Today, of paying a Tennessee firm $10m to "create and distribute content to US audiences with hidden Russian government messaging".
RT boss Margarita Simonyan was one of 10 people sanctioned for alleged attempts to harm "public trust in our institutions". At Vladimir Putin’s direction, three Russian companies used fake profiles to promote false narratives on social media. One of the goals of the propaganda effort was to boost the candidacy of Donald Trump or whoever emerged as the Republican nominee for president, according to an FBI affidavit (Sources: BBC, September 4, 2024; CNN, September 4, 2024).

DONALD TRUMP. The Republican nominee has repeatedly claimed that if he gets another term, he will declassify all the UFO, JFK, and Jeffrey Epstein files. Trump recently promised to release a “client list” belonging to Jeffrey Epstein, something he describes as “UFO footage” along with proof of alien life, all the “remaining files” about the JFK assassination, and all the secrets of the US intelligence agencies as far as other assassinations goes – including the one he nearly fell victim to. These are the big secrets, the ones that will destroy the deep state and usher in the new era of peace and freedom. The promise is the ultimate carrot to dangle in front of his conspiracy obsessed followers (Source: Mike Rothschild, September 4, 2024).

CANDACE OWENS. Antisemitic influencer Owens has clashed with fellow conspiracy theorist and former independent candidate for US president Robert F. Kennedy Jr over her hateful attacks on a prominent hasidic rabbinical figure. RFK Jr, who now openly backs Donald Trump’s White House run, denounced Owens on X after she was interviewed by British broadcaster Piers Morgan. “Owens referred to what she termed 'radical Judaism' and characterised the iconic Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Schneerson, as someone who 'preached Jewish supremacism and hatred of all non-Jewsn' he posted, adding: "These words are a sickening and manifestly inaccurate description of a revered holy man who was respected and beloved by people of all faiths.” Owens is known for promoting extreme conspiracy theories, some even surpassing those of Trump and his MAGA supporters. Many of Owens’ theories are openly antisemitic and include secular beliefs like flat Earth theories and denying that an asteroid caused the extinction of the dinosaurs. Notable among her antisemitic claims are suggestions that Israel was involved in the 9/11 attacks, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) was founded to protect a Jewish pedophile, and bizarrely, that Joseph Stalin and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk were secretly Jewish. She also claims that Hollywood Jews orchestrated Michael Jackson’s death and connects influential Jews to Frankism, an 18th-century sect associated with satanic practices (Source: The Times of India, September 5, 2024).
